Gonçalo Ramalho
Gonçalo has been cycling for three decades, racing for 6 years, and guiding mountain biking for more than a decade. He started cycling in the Sintra mountains, next to Lisbon, and kept exploring all the different regions in Portugal on his bike, mostly with friends but sometimes by himself. He also worked as a windsurfing instructor while studying at the University of Lisbon. Despite having studied geophysics, in 1997 he had the opportunity to start writing for the first Portuguese mountain bike magazine and soon became a journalist in mountain biking. Now he says he has the best job in the world: “when I am not spending time with my family or operating my small bike rental shop I am guiding bike tours!” Gonçalo speaks four languages and is passionate about travel and exploring new cultures. Over the past decade he has biked in several European countries, mountain biked in some of the best trails in Europe as well as in Atlas Mountains, in Morocco. Mountain bike or road, either one as long as having a good time and meeting new friends.
