With a colorful history of domination from Celts, Romans, Angles, Vikings and Normans–it’s surprising to find that the local people in this corner of England have a stronger sense of “county” than they do country. This immense pride and hard-work ethic has shaped a local culture of strong-willed Yorkshire stubbornness. Amongst cricket, soccer and rugby, there is a strong cultural tradition around folk music and dance.

Food & Wine

Bygone are the days of the main staple of heavy, piled high potatoes eggs and greasy spoon pub food. England’s revolutionized itself food-wise and has become a leader in the organic, farm-to-table movements in Europe. We’ll enjoy a plethora of local cheeses and other freshly made dairy products. Beyond Yorkshire pudding we might add in interesting local things like pikelets (a type of pancake, rhubard cooked every which way, ginger beer, chocolate, parkin cake and liquorice! Fresh foods served abundantly and loads of healthy back-to-basic surprises.

Verdant, rolling and hilly.
