Staff Picks: Henry Seamans

Welcome to part 2 of our Staff Picks! Here we outline the tours our US staff members have been on, what they liked most, and tours they hope to go on. Henry joined Ciclismo in March of 2015 and while he has not done a tour yet, he is already learning a lot about the industry. One day he hopes to see all sides of this business, and who knows, maybe join a tour or two. Check out his favorites, below:
1) Savor Sardinia
A few years ago I worked in Sardinia teaching sailing and spent loads of time on the water, but long before I became an active cyclist. I would love to re-visit, and this time by bike. For being an island (albeit the size of New Hampshire), Sardinia offers dramatic and varied landscapes, unique cultural cuisine, and Mirto (a Sardinian digestif) – perfect for a day in the saddle and après hangouts. Sounds like my cup of Mirto!!

2) Bike Across France
Bike across anything sounds amazing to me as it evokes a real sense of accomplishment, and what better place than in France? To be fair, I’m a francophile, but I mean really, France has the terrain, the food, the wine, the châlets, la campagne (the countryside), and gregarious people who love to share France’s milieu. If I get the chance, count me in on this tour.

3) Verona to Salzburg
For pure riding nirvana, Verona to Salzburg has caught my full attention. For a 13 day tour that visits two countries, and one that challenges your riding ability, this tour is ideal if you’re looking to get a good work-out while experiencing the stunning landscapes of Italy’s northern region as it assimilates with Austria’s distinct architectural and cultural presence. There’s still space for our departure August 31st, so who knows, maybe I’ll see you there…

4) La Bella Sicilia
An Italian I worked with in Sardinia told me that Sicilians sometimes eat deep fried pasta balls made with a blend of herbs and spices, coupled with a regional dipping sauce. Granted, that came from a Sardinian, but true or not, it sounds like Sicilians have their food game worked out. Not to mention, this tour gives you the chance to visit a globally known volcano, ride along bike-friendly coastal roads with unmatched vistas, and again, dive into world-class cuisine. Enough said.
