How Bicycle Travel Transforms Lives: August Cosentino

It’s truly amazing the profound affect and change a Ciclismo Classico tour guide can make or create in a guest’s future path. Multiple trip alumni August Cosentino describes a complete transformation whereby he went from an avid runner to one who dabbled in bike tours and eventually became a dedicated cyclist and bike tour enthusiast–much do to his unique experience in Italy and France with one of our extraordinary tour guides.

Here’s his story in his own words:

“You never forget your first time. The first time you ride a pass that you thought only pro-cyclists could ride. The ride up Mont Ventoux, France, was a game-changer: it made me believe the impossible was possible. That if you really wanted something to happen, neither weather nor injuries would stand in your way. I went on to climb all the big passes of France, Italy, and Spain.

But I never forgot my first time. June 4, 2012.

It’s important to note that it was the Ciclismo Classico trip to Sicily with Gabriel Del Rossi that really made me a cyclist. Before then, I was just a runner who went on bike vacations. Then it became all-consuming. Truth. Bought a “real” bike. Started riding 5,000-miles plus per year.
