Ciclismo Classico’s eight-day œ tour does just that. Beginning in Inverness, this intermediate tour pedals alongside the mighty Loch Ness and Great Glen, a geological marvel more than 400 million years old. Guests visit Urquhart Castle before heading north to Strathpeffer via Glen Ord, home to one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. Next, they’ll tackle increasingly rugged and wild terrain, en route to the majestic mountains of Torridon and Applecross, where an epic day of riding over the UK’s highest mountain pass awaits. The final push takes riders to the lovely coastal village of Gairloch and concludes the journey on the shores of the Atlantic. The tour covers 254 miles, and average 36 miles per day.
In the article, Transform Scotland director Colin Howden says, “Our natural environment is the number one reason why people visit Scotland and the Scottish government is committed to making it as accessible as possible, which is why we are investing £3m over this year and next in the Oban to Inverness cycle route.”
