Tour Tuscany with a Tuscan: Tuscany Green
When I was approached by Lauren to propose a top guide tour I felt honored and I want to thank her for this wonderful opportunity.
I had many ideas, but in the end I realized the idea was closer than it seemed, and all I had to do was put the ingredients together and voila! Tuscany Green emerged as my top guide tour for 2015.
The Ingredients:
Il Molinello: I’ve been running my own agriturismo (œfarm stay, combining agriculture and tourism), Il Molinello, since1996, and many of you have already come to stay with me. As both a host and guide, many guests left saying œyou have to do a tour here, it would be great!!
Me, your guide: I’ve been passionate about sustainable farming, bio-architecture, short supply chain, Slow Food (farm to table), and renewable energy for as far back as I can remember. I am an accredited sommelier (A.I.S.), an oil producer and an official oil taster
My family: my wife and head chef Elisa who looks after the administration, my daughter Emma and my sons Guido and Bernardo who give a helping hand, and my parents Paola and Mauro, retired but busy full-time on the farm
Ciclismo Classico guide Giuditta Parisi: she is co-guiding this tour and we will visit her winery, Nostra Vita
The Recipe:
Take one of the best landscapes on earth œseasoned for centuries by the perfect mix of Mother Nature and humans
Add the right amount of: new rides in different areas of Siena: the Chianti Classico vineyards and woods, the œlunar landscape of the Crete Senesi, the gently undulating hills of the Val d’Orcia, the Chiana valley, and typical Tuscan dinners inspired to the short supply chain
Drizzle Molinello’s organic extra-virgin olive oil (and learn how to taste and use it)
Boil all the ingredients in hot water from the natural springs in Rapolano Terme
Serve it in the atmosphere of a real family-run Tuscan agriturismo
Pair with some of the best organic wines I have in my collection
