The Joy of Anticipation.

Health Benefits of Planning Your Next Dream Tour

One of the most exciting aspects of travel is the anticipation, the planning, the imagining, and of course dreaming of the beautiful places we will see and the people that will come into our lives and change us in a small but always a significant way.

Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project writes: “Anticipation is a key stage in happiness; by having something to look forward to, no matter what your circumstances, you bring happiness into your life well before the event actually takes place.”

Planning for a future getaway has surprising psychological benefits – it increases your daily happiness quota as you have something to look forward to!

Here are some tips to help you start kick start the joy of anticipating your next travel adventure!

1. Research your Dream Vacation.

This is the perfect time to research your dream destination and build excitement.  Pour over our Instagram or our Facebook Page and gather ideas of places you want to see, read about their history, and google the food and wine the area is famous for. Use this down time to let your imagination run wild: Imagine cycling along vineyards with new friends and soaring into a Renaissance landscape. Daydream about indulging in a fresh plate of taglietelle ai funghi, listening to Sardinian musicians or just sitting in a piazza with your fellow cyclists sipping the local Chianti.  Ahhhhh!

2. Connect with your travel pod.

The planning phase is a time to touch base with the friends and family you’re hoping to travel with.  Make your future bicycle vacation a reason for reaching out. In lieu of going out to dinner, plan a ZOOM wine tasting hour and brainstorm where you want to go next. Planning a vacation whether close to home or farther away is an active step toward hope and the end of this challenging time we’ve all been through.

3. Stay Close to Home!

Don’t forget that you don’t have to go far.  You can start with a trip close to home – like a weekend getaway to a remote cycling haven like the Vineyard, a bike-away where old world German heritage meets southern hospitality in Texas Hill Country. Or how about exploring the historic villages, lovely lakes and bucolic byways of Southern New Hampshire or a cycling getaway to the perfect foodie destination of Pioneer Valley!
