A fondness for the Classics

As a long-time fan of classic bikes, I’m really excited that Ciclismo Classico is now supporting , an active community of like-minded folk. I subscribed to the group’s mailing list ages ago, and it’s been fascinating to follow the in-depth discussion of vintage lightweights (this covers racing bikes up to the demise of friction-shifting, more or less). The site contains all sorts of info on lugged steel bikes from all over the world. Except for a very brief stint with an aluminum-framed MTB, I’ve always ridden steel, so I’ve got a lot of affinity for this group. (I also have a collection of “project bikes” at home, waiting for restoration!) Ciclismo’s support for this community extends to one of our ! This is a wonderful ride in Italy that celebrates the golden ages of racing, when roads were unpaved and racers had to do their own repairs – great fun!
