From Barcelona, the train takes approx. 45 minutes to reach Girona. We meet at the hotel around 1 pm for a light lunch, introductions and a bike fitting. We’ll leave the hotel for a short warm-up ride.

Girona Loop

Today after breakfast we depart for our first full ride of the tour. Founded by Romans, Girona was later taken over by Moors and Franks before falling under the rule of Barcelona. Because of its various influences, the city has produced many fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings that still stand to this day. As we pedal, we’ll see the many sites that Girona has to offer.

Besalu is one of the most beautiful – and less known – Medieval villages in Spain. It has charm, art, culture and good food, but it has been secluded enough that it doesn’t get overly crowded. Treasuring its turbulent history, the village has restored the picturesque bridge and maintained areas of the Jewish quarter that make a stroll through Besalu a highlight of today.

Today’s coastal ride brings us to L’Escala, a seaside town with sandy beaches formed by coastal dunes and rocky massifs abrupt my coves. Its location makes it an important fishing port. Its gastronomic tradition stretches back over the centuries, which has given L’Escala international prestige, especially for their anchovies. Tonight’s dinner will be a seafood feast.

Today is a shorter but relaxing ride in L’Escala. This afternoon you are free to relax at the beautiful beaches and explore the town. Your guides can offer suggestions on where to go and what to see.

Tossa de Mar

We depart in the morning for a long but scenic ride to Tossa de Mar. We’ll stop along the way for a special Spanish wine tasting, and end with dinner in Tossa de Mar.

Tossa de Mar Loop

Today we visit the Municipal Museum to breathe in some important cultural heritage. Astounding archaeological collections are housed in this museum, considered Spain’s first Modern Art Museum. This evening we will celebrate our time together with dinner at one of Tossa de Mar’s best seafront restaurant.

This morning after breakfast we shuttle you directly to Barcelona airport (BCN), approx. 1.25 hours, to make your connecting flight home.
