Things To Consider When Planning Your First Bicycle Tour

If you’ve never gone on a European bicycle tour before, we’d love to help make your dream trip a reality. Imagine riding past medieval villages, fairy tale chateaux, or two-hundred year-old olive trees—and feasting on the mouth-watering, authentic wines and cuisines of the region with our award-winning tour guides helping you soak up every exquisite minute.

To help first-timers like you prepare for our trips, we’re sharing some of what you need to know to take beginner bike tours with us.

Like any other trip, you’ll first need to consider the time of year you plan to travel, the location you’re traveling to, and the climate of the place you’re visiting. You’ll also want to think about transportation to and from your destination, travel documents needed to legally visit a country, and traveler’s insurance—these items aren’t included as part of your Ciclismo Classico tour.

Once you have those things squared away, you can focus on the bike tour itself. Because we offer everything from easy to advanced beginner to intermediate trips, you can find one fits your cycling level in a place you’ve always wanted to visit. We guide beginner bike tours in Italy, France, and Belgium, to name just a few of the fabulous countries we ride through.

Tips for Beginners:

  • See what you will need to bring on your bicycle tour with our helpful packing list.
  • Ride longer distance or more frequently before you go to condition your legs and arms for the trip and sense how much recovery time you need to feel comfortable.
  • Preview what our bike tours are like: read our blog, check out our social media accounts, and connect with others who’ve taken our tours (yes, we can put you in touch with a reference).
