Arcos de la Frontera, beautiful town located in the Sierra de Grazalema, Cadiz (Andalusia), Spain.

From perfect weather to its stunning beauty, there are so many reasons to make Andalucia your Spring cycling destination.  We start in the cobblestoned streets of Córdoba and pedal our way south through ancient villages, verdant farmland and a lake filled with flamingo. Our grand finale is the village of Ronda, famous for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the El Tajo gorge that carries the Rio Guadalevín through its village center.

Here are our top 5 reasons to pedal Andalucia:

1. Colors Bursting Everywhere!

The colors worn by southern Spain during the spring are intense, life-affirming and beautiful. You have the Andalusian staples of whitewashed old buildings, a warm golden countryside and unblemished blue skies plus during April and May, you’ll also be treated to bright reds, oranges, purples and pinks of flowers in full bloom. Cordova (our starting point) will welcome us during it’s “Fiesta de los Patios” festival, a two week-long celebration of flower-filled courtyards.

2. Get a jump start on your cycling season!

Andalucia is a paradise for cyclists. With rolling hills and stunning beauty, it’s the perfect place to lose yourself in the moment and cycle to your heart’s content.  Biking over the Andalusian countryside will start your season off right with pedaling over the Sierra Morena, or riding up to our Parador in Antequera. In May the temperatures are perfect!

3. Immerse yourself in Andalucia’s rich history

Sitting on the Mediterranean Sea north of Morocco, Andalucia has long been a gateway between Europe and Africa mixing Arab, Christian, Roman and African influences. Our Andalusian bicycle tour starts in Cordoba, the hub of ancient Muslim power. Here we get our first taste of the captivating Moorish architecture that is woven throughout our rolling journey through the fascinating history and culture that is emblematic of Southern Spain.

4. Savor the Perfect Post-Ride Indulgence: Tapas!

The influence of culture comes alive in Andalusian cuisine: The Romans taught the Andalusians how to cultivate wheat and vines and used the fish from the seas. The Arabs taught the Andalusians how to grow fruit and vegetables. They used irrigation systems and improved the cultivation of olive trees and the production of oil. The Greeks, Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Visigoths left their mark on the art, science, culture and gastronomy of Andalusia. This melting pot of cultures and cuisines comes alive in the simple and delicious tradition of Tapas where each night we sample what gastronomic dreams are made of.

5. Immerse Yourself in Natural Oasis of Beauty.

White-washed villages are hiding amongst olive trees, lush forests cover the mountains proudly standing above those endless white-sand coastlines. Andalucia is a place of pure beauty – aside from the delicious local cuisine, the impressive architecture and the sound of flamenco accompanying your evenings, you are left with the unmatched natural beauty of a place that has inspired artists through the ages– a muse that keeps on living, inspiring a new generation of travelers and dreamers with its charm. Are you ready for Andalucia to charm you, too, one colorful pedal stroke at a time.
