A letter to our guests.
Dear Ciclismo Classico Family:
First and foremost, I hope that you and your family are safe and coping with this crisis as best as you can. It is all each one of us can do. I am praying for you and our world.
As you can imagine, Italy, my home-away-from-home and my Italian extended “family” – my Italian cousins, old friends, business partners, colleagues, and my guides – have been at the epicenter of this crisis for weeks now. It has been inspirational to connect with them all from afar, hear their challenges and at the same time listen to their optimism, that “Tutto andra’ bene” (everything will be OK). As they are quarantined to their homes, they are doing all they can to connect to each other and our guests. We are setting up video conferencing with our guides and we hope to have one soon with our guests. Additionally, because the guides are not allowed to even ride their bicycles and are cooking a lot, they are putting together a cookbook!
For most of my life, cycling and Ciclismo Classico have been more than a business, it has been at the core of my life, my purpose. Over the years it has also been the passionate livelihood of so many amazing guides and dedicated employees. They are my family too.
While there are many uncertainties in all our lives now, I know one thing with absolute certainty: we are in this for the long haul, pedaling together. At Ciclismo Classico, bicycling is our ethos, it is at the core our belief and we will forever be promoting and supporting bicycling and bicycle travel. We are forever dedicated to our mission of offering transformational experiences by bicycle for many years to come.
This is a humanitarian crisis that no one is prepared for. The world is coming together and experiencing this first hand. As much as we are so passionately willing to give you the European bicycle tour experience you have been dreaming of as soon as possible, our guides, our team and I accept the reality that our governments and this disease may temporarily prevent us from doing so. As always at Ciclismo Classico, we are anticipating, getting creative, innovating and preparing ourselves to stand by our mission and to do the right thing for all of our stakeholders– our guests, guides, our partners in Italy and the common good.
We are in touch with our guests daily, and most have opted to postpone their Spring tours to a later date or 2021. We know how much you look forward to your precious vacation and remain committed to running the remainder of our 2020 tours unless travel is restricted by local or global authorities, or we determine the quality of the tour would be negatively impacted due to the Coronavirus situation. We will evaluate each tour 45 days prior to the tour start date (or closer to the departure date as the situation changes)
To this end we want to provide you with the flexibility that you need during these uncertain times. Please note, in this ever-changing situation, we reserve the right to make changes to these policies as necessary.
If you are scheduled to travel with us between now and June 15, 2020, you will be receiving an email from us advising you of your options. Please contact us to discuss options for a future tour.
For all Tours with a June 15, 2020 – August 15, 2020 departure date, we have altered our policies as follows:
- Final Payment: In an effort to ease financial pressure from our guest, final payment will be due 45 days prior to the tour.
- For bookings not paid in full: If at any time you wish to postpone your trip prior to 45 days from departure date, we’ll rollover a credit equal to 125% of your deposit that can be used towards ANY future European Ciclismo Classico trip. No penalty. No expiration date. You may also transfer this credit to a friend or family member as a gift certificate.
- If you are scheduled to travel with Ciclismo Classico on August 15, 2020 and beyond: Please contact our office for the most recent updates. Your patience and understanding are sincerely appreciated.
As always please keep in mind that our most updated terms and conditions can be found on this website and that the terms and conditions at the time of travel will apply to your tour. We do reserve the right to change these terms from time to time and we invite you to check back often for such changes.
Thank you in advance for staying in touch (we love hearing from you), postponing or rescheduling your tour if necessary and your patience.
Pedal healthy,
Lauren Hefferon
