Explore some of the most celebrated routes and passes of the Alps on an itinerary designed by one of the world’s most renowned bicycle makers, Bianchi.
This tour is for expert and fit riders who are fond of the Bianchi bicycle brand. It starts at the Bianchi premises in Milan and Treviglio and beautifully unfolds, crossing some of the most legendary routes of the Alps. You’ll cycle through some of the world’s most well-known passes, like Stelvio and Gavia, both essential routes for any and all avid cyclists. And what’s more, you’ll get the chance to ride some of the routes of Italy’s famed race Giro d’Italia. The journey ends in the lovely Swiss town of Davos with a gorgeous loop of the surrounding natural beauties.
Ciclismo Classico has partnered with Bianchi, the world’s oldest bicycle manufacturer, now in its 125th year. The proof is in the pudding: the Italian bicycle manufacturer has provided the best-performing bikes and gear to top-level riders since the beginning of the 20th century, including sponsoring champions like Fausto Coppi and Marco Pantani. We are proud to collaborate with Bianchi and upgrade our bike tour fleet, which includes all new carbon-fiber road, aluminum, hybrid, and e-bikes!
On this very special and exclusive bike tour, riders will be provided with the carbon-frame Intenso, which is custom-made for Ciclismo Classico at the Bianchi factory. The bike is a true all-around endurance bike, ideal for riding mid-to-long distances in comfort. It’s a perfectly well-rounded road machine for riders who prefer a more upright riding position, because of its higher handlebars designed to relieve shoulders and neck stress.
The frame has Kevlar inserts in the chainstays and into the fork. Kevlar inserts are a Vibration Isolating Device that allows the frame to obtain different stiffness responses under different conditions, without losing power and improving shock absorption and adherence to the road. The frame itself is beautifully crafted and has a stellar finish, featuring internal cable routing for both gear cables and rear brakes to give a smooth, uncluttered appearance. And the color! That trademark Celeste. All around, hands down, the best.
Benvenuto a Milano! We pick you up at the airport or we can meet you in Milan. Today, we have lunch and a trip overview at Bianchi Cafè, then we shuttle to Treviglio to visit the Bianchi factory. We then transfer to the lovely wine area of Franciacorta for a bike fitting and evening meal.
The ride starts on quiet flat roads to reach, after a few kilometers, the Lago d’Iseo, a quiet mountain lake surrounded by forested hills. At the town of Lovere, a tourist favorite harbor of the lake, we turn inland towards Clusone, a lovely village nested in the hills of Prealpi. We then continue to our final destination, the ski resort of Presolana.
Today we climb three passes, ending with the most famous and challenging. We start with the Presolana, an easy climb with an average gradient of 5%. Just after the start, it’s a perfect warm-up for an epic day. After a short descent, around kilometer 15, we start the gradual ascent to Passo Vivione—often seen at the Giro d’Italia—about 20 kilometers long with very few steep sections and a rather gradual incline. We continue with a very fun ascent that will bring us to Valle Oglio, by the National Park Adamello.
After the big stage of yesterday, today we have just one pass. You’re going to challenge yourself with the King Stelvio, the most legendary pass in the world. If you dare you can climb it from both sides. Or maybe you’ll prefer the amazing spas at our hotel in the beautiful Sud Tyrolean village of Malles.
We enter Switzerland, where the landscape becomes more gentle and less dramatic. The two passes that we will climb today are the Fuorn and Fluela. Surrounded by fairytale landscapes and magical tiny villages, our ride crosses three national parks before descending into the lively Davos.
Our ride today takes us to Coira, the most ancient of Swiss towns, founded more than 3,000 years ago. We stop for a quick visit before continuing towards the ski areas of Lenzerheide and Wiesel in the albula National Park.
After breakfast, we provide transfers to Milan Airport. We say a fond farewell, as you head home or to a new destination.
