Today we meet you at 12 pm at Galway train station and a group shuttle will take you to the hotel. We gather then in the lobby at 1 pm for a light lunch, introduction talk and a warm-up ride along Cashel Bay. We’ll have a wonderful opportunity to admire the view along the ocean.
Connemara is one of the most scenic regions in Ireland. It’s craggy mountain peaks, expansive sandy beaches and laced network of lakes exemplify the peaceful solitude and rugged beauty of the west of Ireland. After our stop in the picturesque market town of Clifden, we pedal along the coast to the south on narrow country roads, passing by Ballyconnelly before returning to our castle in the heart of Connemara.
Connemara to Inis Mor
This is our last day in Connemara, and we continue on the deserted roads, winding a path through little crags and inlets and into wild open countryside through the peat bogs, where the locals cut the ‘turf (peat)’ to fuel their winter fires. We arrive at the coast in time to catch our ferry to Inis Mor, bidding farewell to charming Connemara.
Aran Islands Loop
Today we continue our magical tour through time as we further explore the beauty of the islands, its archaeological sites, beaches, and local crafts. Catch a glimpse into a way of life that has long since disappeared from most of the county. The Islands’ raw beauty and charm will leave you longing to return again and again!
Back on the mainland, we are embraced by a whole new landscape. The rugged limestone formations of the Burren greet us as we roll along the Atlantic Ocean to Black Head, before arriving in another typical Irish village, Ballyvaughan.
Explore the castles, stones and tombs of this historic emerald isle. We cycle into the heart of the Burren’s limestone plateaus via Lisdoonvarna to Kilfenora, the center of musical, historical and naturalistic interest. Along the way we catch spectacular views of Galway Bay, the Burren, the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher.
Coasting along the outer fringe of the Burren, we get a full appreciation for this creation of nature that stands majestically over the ocean. This is a naturalistic paradise surrounded by 40 shades of green. In the afternoon we return to Galway for our farewell feast in the city of the Tribes.
Slan Leat (Farewell)!
This morning we have breakfast and say goodbye. Enjoy another day in Galway, rent a car to explore other parts of the Celtic land or take a taxi to the airport to catch a flight to your next destination. We are happy to make suggestions for your travel itinerary!
