Welcome to Agropoli! We’ll meet at 12:30 pm at San Francesco Resort, our first hotel. You’ll have time to change after lunch for today’s warm-up ride, which will take you around the outskirts of our coastal townhome for the next two nights.
We’ll head north to the 7th-century B.C. Greek colony of Paestum to visit one of the most historically significant ancient sites in the world. The magnificence of the Doric temples and the urban fabric of the old city will surely be a memory you won’t forget. The area is also known for its unique natural products, the most famous being buffalo mozzarella.
Later, your expert guide will take you to see the most innovative dairy of the region, where you’ll get to taste the authenticity for yourself!
We’ll venture inland toward the village of Vatolla, where you’ll learn the secrets of local cuisine with ingredients straight from the garden. Then, we’ll start our (mostly) descent all the way to Castellabate, a town with ancient origins. We end this scenic ride in the fishing village of Santa Maria, where a delectable seafood dinner awaits.
We’ll ride along the sea following an ancient road that will take us through Acciaroli, which is where Hemingway found inspiration during one of his stays there. We’ll also visit the ancient Greek colony of Velia. We finish today’s ride in Ceraso, where we take a shuttle to Palinuro.
Our ride goes south along the most beautiful stretch of coast, where mountains drop directly into the sea and countless turns unveil awe-inspiring views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. From Camerota to Scario, we'll get a local boat to explore the stretch of coast that has no road and features natural beauties, like Infreschi Bay.
We provide a shuttle to the Maratea train station to make your connections to Naples, Rome and beyond.
