You'll take a short ride to get used to the bicycles on the outskirts of Agropoli.
Today's ride heads north to the 7th century B.C. Greek colony of Paestum to visit one of the most historically significant ancient sites in the world. The magnificence of the Doric temples and the urban fabric of the old city will surely be a memory you won't forget. The area is also known for its unique natural products, the most famous being buffalo mozzarella. Later on in the day, your expert guide will take you to see the most innovative dairy of the region, where you'll get to taste the authenticity for yourself!
This ride goes inland towards the village of Vatolla, where we'll learn the secrets of local cuisine with ingredients straight from the garden. Then, it continues mostly downhill all the way to Castellabate, a town with ancient origins. We end this scenic ride in the fishing village of Santa Maria, where a delectable seafood dinner awaits us!
We'll ride along the sea following an ancient road that will take us through Acciaroli, which is where Hemingway found inspiration during one of his stays there. We'll also visit the ancient Greek colony of Velia. If you're more advanced and are up for a challenge, you can cycle up Neptune's Staircase, a very steep climb above the sea.
Our ride goes south along the most beautiful stretch of coast, where mountains drop directly to the sea and countless turns unveil awe-inspiring views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. From Camerota to Scario, we'll get a local boat to explore the stretch of coast that has no road and features natural beauties, like Infreschi Bay.
You'll take the shuttle to the Maratea train station to make your connections to Naples, Rome and beyond.
