Brazil: Pantanal Wildlife

A photo tour with Ossian Lindholm in search of the elusive jaguar.

Explore the Pantanal and capture its spectacular wildlife on this photo tour led by acclaimed South American photographer Ossian Lindholm. The Pantanal, one of the world’s last great wildernesses, is the largest contiguous wetland on the planet and South America’s primary wildlife sanctuary, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. A bio-geographic mixing bowl, the Pantanal contains elements of the Amazon and Atlantic Rainforests, the Brazilian Savannah, and the Paraguayan Chaco, and its fantastic biodiversity includes almost 700 bird species, 100 different types of mammals, hundreds of fish and scores of reptile and amphibian species. This wildlife photography tour provides close up views of unique regional fauna such as tapirs, giant anteaters, caiman, capybaras, howler monkeys, giant river otters, the Hyacinth Macaw and toco toucan, and perhaps the stealthy and beautiful jaguar, apex predator of this vast realm.

Explore one of the world’s last great wildernesses on this immersive photography tour.

Our photo tour takes us across both the North and South Pantanal, lodging at cozy and extremely clean working fazendas where the food is always fantastic. All equipment and personnel are in place to ensure the best nature photos possible. We use high quality boats with radios and strong engines for maximizing the opportunities to see and photograph wildlife, and adjust our activities specifically for photographers, prioritizing hours of best light, with an emphasis on sunrise and sunset. Expert local guides experienced at spotting regional wildlife lead us to our subjects, concluding with two full days spent in search of the perfect shot of the legendary jaguar. We’ll also take a canoe tour on the Rio Clarinho, enjoy a Brazilian BBQ, hike the jungle, and possibly go piranha fishing. It’s a nature and camera lover’s photography tour of a lifetime!
